Trailwind Collies has been the home of conformation and performance collies since
the mid-1960's. I have been training dogs for over 40 years and in that time have
put well over 100 AKC titles (along with a smattering of NADAC, USDAA, and AHBA
titles) on 16 collies and 2 rescued border collies. Those titles have included 8
conformation championships, 6 UD's, 5 TDX's, 4 MX/MXJ's, and most recently a
MACH 3 and PAX on
CH MACH 3 PACH Kimberee Hold That Dream, TDX,HSAs,,MXP2,MJP3,PAX,NF,OFP,
("Bright").
A collie was my first purchase after graduating from college and I began obedience
competition with that dog who became Sierra Trace, UD. "Trace" was the beginning
of a long, wonderful "ride" in the world of collies and dog sports. I then branched out
into conformation, tracking, herding, and finally agility came into being, and it and
tracking promptly became my passions. For a few years I competed and bred under
the Windhaven kennel name and the most notable dog bred with that name was
group and specialty winning Ch Windhaven's Trailblazer, UD. When I changed
kennel names, I combined his name with the call name of one of my early bitches
("Windy") and also Jan Shields' "Wind" (Ch Antrum All Try of Northshield, UDT, upon
whom my original conformation dogs were based) and came up with Trailwind.
I've also had some success breeding collies, breeding several champions in just a few
litters, and am the breeder/owner/handler of Ch Trailwind's Bright 'N Breezy, UDT,
the only all-breed Best In Show winning Ch UDT collie in the history of the breed.
